The SportCentral Partnership supports Scottish Athletics to deliver an enhanced athlete development programme. The Athletics Academy is aimed at bridging the identified gap that exists in SGB athlete and coach pathways between local and national levels. The Academy aims to deliver the following 3 objectives: 1) An improved quality of athletes entering national performance development programmes. 2) Develop the coaches who work with promising athletes at a regional level and coaches at a local level (clubs). 3) Increase the retention of athletes who have been in the programme within (or across) sport(s). The Academy will provide coach mentoring, sport specific coaching and generic support services for identified athletes and coaches. |
