• Implement and deliver a co-ordinated approach to the local delivery of UKCC courses
• Provide a varied programme of coaching development opportunities for all Forth Valley coaches
• Provide support and tailored mentoring for identified coaches developing within Scottish Athletics Coach Education Programme
• Increase the number of teachers, volunteers of all levels and abilities accessing specific education and training opportunities in Athletics

Current Overview

From research done across the Forth Valley there is a lack of Level 1/2 coaches working at grass roots level. A number of coaches are not willing to take the step up to Level 2 due to the time commitment of the course and the lack of desire to specialise in one particular event. A need has been identified to develop these grass roots coaches through specialised workshops to continually increase their knowledge and coaching skills year on year. The sport is suffering because of the lack of coaches in all areas to deliver tasters sessions, RJT clubs and coach/officiate in Athletics Clubs.

Coach/Official Education

A co-ordinated approach to running Coaching/Officiating courses has been taken and courses will be run as per the requirements of Local Authorities and Clubs. The courses being held in the Forth Valley are as per below:
