scottishathletics is the governing body for athletics in Scotland. Established as a Company Ltd by Guarantee on 1 April 2001, it succeeded the Scottish Athletics Federation. scottishathletics is affiliated to UK Athletics. Within Scotland, scottishathletics is affiliated to the Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland. About Scottish Athletics
As identified within the Memorandum and Articles of Association, scottishathletics was established to;
- foster, develop and control the sport of athletics in Scotland
- take responsibility for all athletic teams representing Scotland,
promote annual Championships and other competitions,
- establish and enforce rules for competition, and
- advance and safeguard the interests of athletics in Scotland.There are approximately 150 athletics clubs in Scotland with an estimated total membership of around 12,000. The clubs vary in size from small informal clubs with a handful of members to long-established clubs whose membership exceeds 400. Some clubs specialise in particular disciplines, and others cater for all aspects of athletics.

scottishathletics is committed to the development of athletics in Scotland, and with the support of their partners, they aim to;
- widen opportunities for more people to become involved in athletics
- provide the best possible opportunities for those involved to gain enjoyment and maximise their potential, and;
- support those with talent to succeed at UK, Commonwealth, European and World level.
- run the sport efficiently and effectively, and provide excellent service to participants and stakeholders
