Kari Anderson, tournament organiser and National Under-17s coach said ‘the success of (this) tournament is a tremendous boost to girls cricket in Scotland. The turnout has been tremendous and a testament to the hard work going on by a select few in promoting the girls game.’

She added ‘I am doubly pleased that so many girls are now enjoying cricket but also with the SportCentral Dollar girl’s achievement in winning the tournament that they finished 4th in last year.’

Following on from the success of last year there will be an indoor tournament on the 20th April at the Gytes Leisure Centre in Peebles.  Further details are available from Borders Women’s Co-ordinator Kathryn White at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or Cricket Scotland’s Development Officer Neil Cameron This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Cricket Scotland’s development team have been working hard to organise and implement a national programme of events for 2008 that is nearly completed.  The events include 4 development days held around the country encouraging girls to take up the game and to continue to support those who are already playing.

Season 2008 promises to be one of the busiest for the girls U17 squad who will be taking part for the first time ever in the ECB County Championships Northern division.  This includes 2 away matches against Yorkshire, Durham, Lancashire and Cheshire
