Girls Cricket Sessions At Dollar Academy

SportCentral are offering girls in the Central area an opportunity to further develop their cricketing skills with a series of classes throughout the winter.

Whether you have played the game before, or you just want to try something new, then come along and see how you enjoy it.

Last years programme saw 15 girls, most of who hadn’t played cricket before, develop their skills through the winter and resulted in them playing a full fixture against a well established Kinross Ladies team in the summer, with the Dollar girls managing to pull off a memorable victory.

One of two coaches to work with the girls, Gordon Allan, said “It was great fun working with the girls over the winter, and to see them win a proper game after such a short period of time was amazing. Hopefully we will be able to attract more girls this winter and build on our success this year.” Kari Anderson, the second of the coaches, added “We try to make the sessions as fun as possible, and I think this showed in how well the girls developed.”

Sessions will focus on all of the skills needed to develop your cricket – batting, bowling and fielding – and this will also aid you in development of core skills such as catching and hand eye coordination, which can be used in many other sports.

The sessions are open to girls of all ages, and will take place at Dollar Academy, running weekly from Wed 28th Oct – Wed 2nd Dec 2009 from 6pm-7pm. The sessions are free of charge, and will be run by Scotland Women’s Captain & UKCC level 3 coach Kari Anderson and UKCC level 2 coach Gordon Allan.
