Alan selected to represent Scotland at British Championships!

On Sunday 1st July the John Wright Centre in East Kilbride was once again the venue for the national championships coordinated by the Scottish Disability Badminton Group with input from SDS and Badminton Scotland. The event is supported by South Lanarkshire Leisure and the Provost Russell Clearie presented medals and prizes to successful participants.
32 competitors from 6 different Scottish areas participated in four sections.. Alan Oliver from Forth Valley won the section for ambulant physically disabled players with a win in the final over Niall Jarvie from Perth.
The Badminton Championships are now an established part of the national calendar of events. Numbers are increasing annually as the sport grows in popularity around the country. The pathway now leads to the British Championships and hopefully one day some participants from East Kilbride will represent GB at Paralympic level. Alan has been selected to represent Scotland at the British Championships in Cardiff later this month.
