Junior and Senior divisions were fiercely contested by a high standard of football. There was a fantastic atmosphere at the event as footballers could be seen as far as the eye can see. Some games were played under the watchful eye of Kenny Clark, SPL referee but all teams demonstrated excellent sportsmanship. There was an air of excitement as celebrity guests watched the footballers displaying their talents over 12 pitches. Pedro Moutinho and Russell Latapy from Falkirk FC made presentations to the winners and runner up of each division, as did Colin Hendry, manager of Clyde FC and former Scotland Internationalist. Gavin McLeod, Chief Executive of Scottish Disability Sport Development Officer said” I am delighted with the number of teams competing and I am looking forward to this event becoming a regular feature in the Scottish Disability Sport Calendar.” Stuart Sharp SFA National Football Development Officer for Disabilities added “ its encouraging to see so many players here today, this event has been a great platform for players to display their talents and there is certainly a lot of talented individuals playing today.” It is hoped a number of the players who perform well today will have the chance to qualify for the national under-18 Disability team and take part in the prestigious “Home Nations” tournament which Scotland is holding in April next year. Many thanks go to Falkirk Council for sponsoring todays event and to Umbro for providing all the match equipment for the event.
