SportCentral Girls Football Leagues

Season 2007/08 ended at Alloa Rugby Club with the S3-6 League going to the final match to decide the winners.

Alva Academy trailed St Modan’s H.S by 2 points going into the final day’s fixtures but with 1 game in hand.  A tense game between St Modan’s and Alva ended 0-0, denying St Modan’s the chance of winning.  Alva held on to win the League by a single point.

In the S1/2 League St Mungo’s H.S ran out comfortable winners with 73 points.  Congratulations go to both Alva Academy and St Mungo’s H.S.

SportCentral Youth Football Manager Alan Morgan added:

“The number of girls playing within these Leagues was very good yet again with 26 teams and over 200 girls playing over the course of the season.  Next season we plan to link the S1/2 League directly with the Bank Of Scotland Soccer 1 programme so hopefully these numbers can continue and even increase.
I would like to thank the school staff members and coaches for giving up the time to allow the girls to play in the Leagues.  I’m sure the girls all appreciate it.  I would also like to thank my own coaches who co-ordinated the fixtures and refereed the matches.”
