About Golf

Katie has been working with clubgolf for just over four years. Based within the SportCentral Team, she is responsible for developing and managing the clubgolf Regional Strategy for junior golf development throughout the local authority areas of Clackmannanshire, Falkirk, Stirling and West Lothian. With a specific focus on schools, clubs and performance, Katie's key priorities are to deliver the targets outlined in the Regional Strategy and contribute to the overall aims of SportCentral.

2007 Targets Met:

  • Clackmannanshire, Falkirk, Stirling and West Lothian Councils have committed to delivering an introduction to golf to every nine year old by 2009.
  • 2000 nine year olds in Central Scotland have been introduced to golf though the introductory game, firstclubgolf in the primary five PE Curriculum;
  • 28 out of 39 golf clubs and golf facilities are delivering clubgolf coaching programmes in line with LTPD framework for golf;
  • 202 volunteers have become PGA Level 1 coaches in order to deliver clubgolf Stages 1 and 2 coaching programmes at their golf clubs and facilities.

Katie is committed to building upon the successes so far by developing new partnerships with golf clubs and facilities, recruiting and training more people and managing the implementation of meaningful and innovative programmes for children to experience golf and develop to their full potential.

Outside of work, Katie's interests include watching and playing a variety of different sports, travelling and meeting up with friends and family. She has lived in Glasgow for nine years since moving from her family home in Carradale, Kintyre to attend the University of Strathclyde where she graduated with a BA (Hons) Sport in the Community.
